Day 7 - Setting Goals

I decided to set some goals today., both short and long-term. Here they are.

My Goals:
Basically, I want to lose about 10lb/month. It's a little more than the 2lb/wk recommendation, but not much.

1/1/11: 290
2/1/11: 280
3/1/11: 270 (Weight after delivering baby#3)
4/1/11: 260
5/1/11: 250
6/1/11: 240
7/1/11: 230
8/1/11: 220
9/1/11: 210
10/1/11: 200 (Weight before losing 50lbs to get in the Navy)
11/1/11: 190
12/1/11: 180 (1 Year)
1/1/12: 170
2/1/12: 160
3/1/12: 150 (Weight before Navy Boot Camp)
4/1/12: 140 GOAL!!!!! (Weight after Navy Boot Camp)

Food and exercise-wise today, I think I did pretty well. Made some good decisions, as in declining pineapple upside down cake at lunch. I also worked out after everyone went to bed. I had considered just doing the bare minimum that I would need to to take care of the 35 calories over my intake goal for the day. Instead I did a normal workout and I feel great!

Day 5 - Should sleep well tonight!

What a day. I doubled up on my exercise because I missed working out yesterday. If you haven't tried it, Leslie Sansone's Walk At Home DVDs are great. I just started the 5 Day Slim Down DVD. Each day is a different workout with a different focus. I did 1 "mile" this morning after breakfast and 1 "mile" this afternoon while Sophie and Toddy were napping.

I must say, I really like www.myfitnesspal.com where I keep track of my food, exercise, and water. After eating dinner and logging it in, I was over my daily recommended calorie intake by about 30 calories. Ending the day in the red after working so hard to make for yesterday was not on my agenda, so I decided to mop the kitchen. It really needed it after my children used colored sand instead of glitter to make birthday cards for their Nona's birthday party tomorrow. I found another cool site that has a "calories burned" calculator that allowed me to figure out how many calories I burned while mopping the kitchen. It made up for my overage and then some. Woo Hoo! I'll take anything I can get.

Tomorrow I'm going to try to get some pictures posted.

Here's my summary and weight loss projection from today. Good night!

Day 5 - Morning

It is the beginning of Day 5. I'm off to a pretty good start and have already done some strength training and aerobics. Thank you to all of my family and friends who have inspired me and are encouraging me. I can't do this without you!

My husband actually started this weight loss journey before me. He is part of my inspiration. Without his dedication who knows when I would have gotten off my duff and took the first step. As of this morning he has lost 13lbs. I hope to include his stats too, because we are doing this together! Keep following my blog for before and after pictures of both of us.

Now, back to doing laundry. :-)

Day 4

Day 4 is done. I'm over my calorie intake and it's 10pm, so there's no making up for it now. I am just too tired. After a rough evening with the kids. I just want to go to bed. At least I did lose today and I made some good food choices. At dinner, I only had half of a sweet potato instead of a whole one. No butter on my roll or sweet potato. I also made a new salad today that was pretty good. It tasted good and was relatively low in calories.

Why I Want to Lose Weight

I am addicted to food! I am an emotional eater!

I love to cook AND I love to eat.  I've been on the weight loss rollercoaster for most of my life. When I was a kid I was tall and skinny. Then I turned 13, stopped growing up and started growing out. I was heavy in high school. When I was 22 I starved myself and exercised like crazy to lose 50 pounds so I could get into the Navy. When I finished boot camp, I looked AWESOME! Unfortunately, it didn't last long because I had knee surgery and started gaining wait again. Since then, the only time I've lost weight was when I was pregnant because I was so extremely sick every time. Nursing my girls kept me from gaining weight, but every time I weened one, I would start to put on weight again. The day before Thanksgiving I was at my heaviest EVER (301 lbs). I'm only 5'4" so this is a ridiculously heavy weight. I want to have more energy to play with my girls. I want to look great for my husband. I don't want people thinking I am my children's grandmother for Pete's sake!

I know it's not going to be easy, but I WILL do it!

Day 2 - A Learning Experience

Today was a relatively busy day. Dropped Sophie off at Wee School at 9am then had Toddy's pictures taken at Walmart at 10am. At 11am, Toddy had a doctor's appointment and we had to pick Sophie up at 2pm. Needless to say, it was a fast food lunch. On a day like this, the previous me would have had a large Dr. Pepper (light ice) {400 Cal} and a Super Sonic breakfast burrito {570 Cal} after dropping Sophie off. Lunch probably would have been another large Dr. Pepper {400 Cal} and a Sonic cheeseburger {647 Cal} and medium fries {330 Cal}. You have to get the value meal, right? Dinner would have been Shake and Bake Chicken Breast {150 Cal}, green beans {50 Cal} and probably Au Gratin potatoes {225 Cal}. I probably would also have had a bedtime snack of a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios in 2% milk {230 Cal}. I also wouldn't have done any exercise.

So, my totals before would have been:
Breakfast: 970 Cal
Lunch: 1377 Cal
Dinner: 425 Cal
Snack: 230 Cal
TOTAL: 3002 Cal !!

Oh my goodness! It's no wonder I have a weight problem!!!!!
